Ten Inches to Spare

Ten Inches to Spare

I'm pumping out about ten gallons a minute as the concrete dries and that lets the water level drop a few inches below the new floor level. I put a foot of sand on top of everything toobsorbe that slick you get on the very top layer when you our concrete underwater and to weight everything down so i get a good seal across the top of the gravel pit I created at the bottom of the ten inch pipe. As soon as I stop pumping it will rise two feet in a short time but since i made the pipes taller the hole will stay dry. This doesn't cut down on how deep I can build the bunker but it does take away from the highwater mark if i ever had a flood so the main bunker will be just a single story to keep things simple over the years.

I don't want to rely on a pump when gravity can do it and since this officially will need to be stairs down from the main level I am going to make a permanent basin to suck out the sand slurry and then double as a 600 gallon emergency flood basin as a back up to the natural drain. I'll determine the high mark over a period of a time then go a foot above that and curve it back down in a 180 to a drop about an inch above the floor. If I ever am gone for a lengthy time with a broken pipe or if the big house would burn then get swamped with water from the firemen it will still drain on its own and pull a siphon up from the basin to get the last of it with no moving parts or power needed.

The observation well pipe which is the deepest and smallest in the middle and separated from the gravel pit at the very top of the water table by about 40 feet of fine white sand then courser pea gravel rises about three feet right now and would be artisian for a time if I added a valve at the bottom.

Oakland California Temple

Oakland California Temple

Located in the city of Oakland, California at 4770 Lincoln Ave, it is the only temple built with a modern five-spire design and exhibits an Oriental motif. The exterior of the temple is reinforced concrete faced with sierra white granite from Raymond, California. On the north and south faces of the temple are two decorative friezes, and is the last temple to have such. The back (south side) is a depiction of Christ descending from Heaven to the people of the American continent soon after his resurrection in the holy land. The front (north side) illustrates Christ preaching His Gospel to the people. Within the front garden courtyard there is a statue of children in front of a bronze plaque bearing a scripture from 3 Nephi 17, telling how Christ blessed the children during his visit to the people of ancient America.

The temple sits on a prominent site in the Oakland hills and has become a local landmark. Through the front courtyard are stairways which lead to the temple terrace situated above the ground floor of the temple. From the temple grounds and terrace are spectacular views of the Bay Area including downtown Oakland, the Bay Bridge, Yerba Buena Island, downtown San Francisco, and on a clear day, the Golden Gate Bridge. The Grounds are accented by flowers, palm trees, and a formal-style man-made river running from one fountain to the other.

The temple was built on an 18.3-acre (74,000 m?) plot, has 4 ordinance rooms, 7 sealing rooms, and has a total floor area of 95,000 square feet (8,800 m?).[1] The Oakland Temple Visitor Center phone number is 510-531-1475.

The Visitor Center has free tours around the grounds and atop the temple daily.
